Mauritius signed $ 2 billion with Mangalore Mauritius reiterated his contract with Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd

(MRPL) of India on the supply of petroleum products, amounting to two billion dollars ($ 2 billion) over a period of three years with effect from August 2010.

Under this agreement, the refinery will continue to provide Mauritius 1.1 million tones of petroleum products. An agreement has been signed to this effect in New Delhi between the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, a subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) in the presence of Indian Petroleum Minister Murli Deora, the Jitin Prasada State Minister and the Mauritius Minister of Industry and Commerce, Showkutally Soodhun. Uttam Kumar Basu, Director General of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, said that the contract is USD 660 million per year for a sale of 1.1 million tones of petroleum products.
 
After the signing of the agreement between the State Trading Corporation (STC) and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd, the Minister Showkutally Soodhun said in a press statement that he was on a mission to provide the country with the best possible offer. "I was on a mission to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I found, however, that the offer of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd remains, today's value, the better for the country, "he added. He stressed that this new contract will be for a period of three years.

This is the third agreement that is signed by the State Trading Corporation and the company of Mangalore. The first was signed June 14, 2006 in Mauritius.The minister added that the signing of this agreement reflects the special relations that bind India and Mauritius. He said that Mauritius can be used by Indian companies as a 'hub' to enter other African markets. He stressed that India can be a crucial support to the fight against piracy. "We also seek assistance from India technological both at the level and at the corporate setting up regarding levels of a refinery hub in Mauritius.
